Today, the Deputy Minister is visiting the Old Prison in Pietermaritzburg.

On Tuesday, Morolong visited Open Gate Special School, a school with special educational needs, before leading the official opening of the MTN Schools Connect initiative.

The visit to the school coincided with the commemoration of Disability Rights Awareness Month, which offers an opportunity for society to remove social barriers and perceptions to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

The Deputy Minister also visited households that have benefitted from set-top-box installations.

Government, in partnership with the Universal Service and Access Agency of South Africa, is migrating from analogue and digital signal and indigent households have received subsidised set-top-boxes.

The Deputy Minister also visited the uMgungundlovu community radio station, where he emphasised that government would continue to support community media as they are the voice of the community, reaching out to the masses.

To conclude the activities of the day, Deputy Minister Morolong led a taxi rank activation to engage the community and mobilize them to take part in celebrating 30 Years of Freedom. – SAnews.ov.za
