Ekurhuleni SIU Demand Received by Ramaphosa

17 May 2026 by Guest

Statement by Khathutshelo Rasilingwane MPL – DA Ekurhuleni Mayoral Candidate:

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has received confirmation that our request to President Cyril Ramaphosa, to authorise an SIU investigation into the R2 billion Ekurhuleni graft, has been received by the presidency.

In July of 2025, the DA flagged concerns around the syphoning of money from the municipality with the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Recently, Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts heard horror stories about hackers manipulating bills, and invoices.

In total, these hackers managed to rip a R2 billion hole into the municipality’s fiscus.

Our direct request to Ramaphosa, facilitated by DA Parliamentary Leader, George Michalakis MP, relates to this scandal. The President must authorise an SIU investigation immediately, so that those responsible can face justice.

The DA’s stance is clear: Ekurhuleni is not for sale.

If the Presidency and the SIU allow this opportunity to act against massive corruption, and a clear attack on a major municipality’s ability to deliver services go past unchecked, we have entered dangerous territory.

The DA will not allow the public purse to be the go to for criminals.

Millions of residents in Ekurhuleni depend on public representatives to fight for their right to basic service delivery. We will not relent in this fight.

The message, and request to Ramaphosa is a simple one, help us to catch criminals. We must convict them, and clean up our municipalities.

This is probably off-topic, BUT here goes: I see that MyZA operates a number of \’sections\’ dealing with News, Directory, Events and a Marketplace and I was wondering just how https://MyZA.co.za manages to keep the content fresh and growing? Do you have an army of employees?
