Energy prof takes on Eskom CEO who gave South Africa its first load-shedding | SA News


Power Futures Lab emeritus professor Anton Eberhard has criticised former Eskom CEO Jacob Maroga’s views on the issues that nearly caused the collapse of the South African power system.

Maroga led the power utility from May 2007 to November 2009, when South Africa experienced its first load-shedding.

He started his career at Eskom in 1995. His departure has been the subject of much controversy, with Eskom’s board maintaining he resigned while he argued that he was fired.
