Face Deep garners prestigious International Film Award Nominations

06 May, Johannesburg – Film enthusiasts, mark your calendars! An international award-winning South African locally produced thriller film, Face Deep is set to captivate audiences in cinemas nationwide on 31 May.

Directed by visionary filmmaker Vuyani Bila and produced by Mathabo Bila, Face Deep explores the character of Luna (played by Lerato Walaza) and her pensioner lover Noah (played by Phillip ‘Tipo’ Tindisa) whose dream life comes crashing down when Noah’s estranged daughter, Bonnie (played by Mohau Sonny) returns to reconcile with her father. Strange things come to light when old memories are evoked. Luna will do anything to keep her secrets in the past and won’t let anyone get in her way.

“Through stunning visuals and gripping storytelling, we are excited for viewers to experience our latest work on the big screens. This project has been a labour of love, working with some of the best talent in the country,” said Vuyani Bila, Face Deep Film Director.

“We are also grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the two biggest cinemas in the country, Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro in telling uniquely South African stories that we can take to the world,” Bila adds.

In addition to the cinema release, Face Deep has already begun to make waves in the international film community. It won the Best International Feature Film at the Cuckoo International Film Festival in India and received nominations in three other prestigious film awards – Liverpool Indie Awards, Luminax International Film Festival 2024 and Denver Monthly Film Awards.

“The nominations we’ve received are a tremendous honour and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this story to life. They also stand as a testament to the film’s exceptional quality and its ability to resonate with audiences across cultural and geographical boundaries,” concludes Bila.
Don’t miss your chance to experience Face Deep on the big screen when it arrives in cinemas on 31 May 2024. Stay tuned for ticketing information and additional
updates.
