The Casual Workers Advice Office has noted a sharp rise in reports of unlawful treatment of immigrant workers by employers in Gauteng.
Reports include payments withheld, exploitation, exclusion from UIF and unfair dismissals.
People we spoke to who have lived in South Africa for years believe that “there is much more hatred” against immigrants in recent months.
