Glen Preston, NSRI Shelly Beach station commander, said: At 17h39, Thursday, 1 January, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following reports of a person reportedly missing in the surf zone at a beach between Hibberdene and Mfasazane.
NSRI Shelly Beach crew, Med-Evac ambulance services, the SA Police Services and Police Search and Rescue responded.
An extensive search revealed no signs of a missing 33 year old male (believed to be a local man) who had reportedly gone missing in the water reportedly at around 16h00.
Police Search and Rescue will continue in ongoing search efforts and Police are investigating.
Thoughts and care are with the family and friends of the missing man in this difficult time.
