With its fast, flat course, the highly anticipated Boxer Super Run promises an electrifying day of racing in Durban on Sunday, 13 October 2024. South Africa’s top athletes will line up, ready to compete for the coveted titles of King and Queen of the Boxer Super Run, making this an event not to be missed.

“The Boxer Super Run’s lightning-fast route in Durban lived up to expectations in 2023,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Boxer Athletics Club athletes Precious Mashele and Glenrose Xaba delivered remarkable performances at the inaugural event, becoming the fastest South Africans to complete a 5km run on home soil (at that time), with their astonishing times of 13:44 and 16:03, respectively. This year, we can’t wait to see if those records can be broken. With the R147K prize purse serving as extra motivation, we hope to witness new South African 5km records being set once again.”

“It’s not just the Elite Race that promises excitement. Last year, participants in the ‘Open Wave’ were extremely competitive as well,” continues Meyer. “We’re excited to see ‘Open Wave’ runners chasing their personal bests on this course—it’s achievable. Remember, there’s prize money for the Top 3 male and female finishers in the following Open Wave Categories: Junior, Open, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.”

In closing, Meyer adds, “Super Social Wave runners and walkers, we’re counting on you to bring the spirit and energy! Dress up, have fun, and enjoy South Africa’s most social 5km run. We’re looking for vibrant, colourful outfits that will bring excitement, style and flair to the streets of Durban.”

“We expect another thrilling day of racing, with the exciting course once again delivering fast times,” says Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores. “The fun will kick off from Snell Parade via Lagoon Drive and finish at Blue Lagoon Park. Apart from one minor hill, the route is fast and flat, offering a fantastic experience for runners aged 9 and up. Participants will enjoy passing some of Durban’s most iconic landmarks, while being treated to breathtaking views of Durban’s Beach Front and Promenade. Our event partners and sponsors will add to the excitement with activations along the route. It’s set to be an unforgettable day at South Africa’s most social 5km run.”

“As Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), we believe in collaborating for impact. Therefore, partnering to create a greater shared opportunity not only for our businesses but also for the communities we serve, is one of our priorities. The Boxer Super Run 2024 is another opportunity to immerse ourselves in the communities where we do business with our partners, by enabling serious runners and aspirant athletes to showcase their prowess while having fun”, said Bame Modimogale, Head of Customer, Modern Trade, CCBSA.
