The National Consumer Commission (NCC) notify consumers of a product safety recall issued by Isuzu Motors South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Isuzu). The recall affects two thousand five hundred and eighty-six (2 586) Isuzu RG19 (Field Action 26FSL0080) bakkies. These are single cabs, double cabs and extended bakkies and were sold nationwide between 11May 2026 and 3 July 2026. The vehicles were also exported to Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, eSwatini, Uganda and Zambia.
According to the supplier, there is a possibility that the brake pedal pivot pin may be loose. In this case, the brake pedal may move laterally (sideways) during brake application. This may make it more difficult for the driver to fully depress the brake pedal and could potentially reduce braking performance when attempting to stop the vehicle.
Consumers should present their vehicles to the nearest Isuzu Dealership for an inspection and replacement of the defective component. Any remedial work will be carried out at no cost to the consumer.
“A vehicle’s braking system is a critical safety component of a vehicle. It is therefore imperative for owners or users of these vehicles to contact their preferred authorised dealership without any delay,” said Acting Commissioner Hardin Ratshisusu.
