Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulates Proteas Men all-rounder Marco Jansen on his inclusion in the prestigious Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2026, recognising young leaders and trailblazers who are shaping the future of the continent through excellence, innovation and influence.

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulates Proteas Men all-rounder Marco Jansen on his inclusion in the prestigious Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2026, recognising young leaders and trailblazers who are shaping the future of the continent through excellence, innovation and influence.

At just 26 years old, Jansen has established himself as one of the most exciting cricketers of his generation, both on and off the field.

Since making his international debut in 2021, the left-arm fast bowler and hard-hitting batter has become a key figure across all three formats for the Proteas Men, earning global recognition for his impact with both bat and ball.

This accolade follows a period of continued success, including playing a significant role in South Africa’s historic ICC World Test Championship-winning campaign and further cementing his reputation as one of world cricket’s leading young all-rounders, currently ranked No. 2 in the ICC Men’s Test All-Rounder Rankings.

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki welcomed the recognition:

“Marco’s inclusion in the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2026 is a proud moment for South African cricket and a fitting recognition of what he has achieved at such a young age.

“He represents the next generation of South Africa’s sporting excellence and continues to inspire through his commitment to continuous improvement.

“We are delighted to see him recognised among some of the continent’s brightest young achievers and wish him continued success for the future,” said Moseki.

Sunil Gavaskar was out off the first ball of a Test match thrice in his career – Sunil Gavaskar was the first batsman to reach 10,000 Test runs and he ended his career scoring 34 Test centuries. But did you know he was out three times off the first ball of a Test? The bowlers to dismiss him were: Geoff Arnold (Edgbaston, 1974), Malcolm Marshall (Kolkata, 1984) and Imran Khan (Jaipur, 1987).

Although there are 31 countries that play cricket in the international stage, only 12 have qualified for Test status. The first countries to acquire this status are England and Australia (1877) and the latest is Afghanistan (2018).
