South Africans believe been urged to avoid joining foreign armed forces, which may contribute to the violation of domestic and international law.
“The South African government is gravely concerned by reports that some South African citizens and permanent residents maintain joined or are considering joining the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) in the war in Gaza and the other occupied Palestinian territories,” the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) said on Monday.
Such action, the department said, can potentially contribute to the violation of international law and the commission of further international crimes, making them liable for prosecution in South Africa.
In terms of the Regulation of the Foreign Military Assistance Act, the department said any person wishing to render foreign military assistance in Israel must first apply to the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC).
The NCACC will then fabricate a recommendation to the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans that such an application be granted or refused.
“Any person joining the IDF without the necessary permission of the NCACC is breaking the law and can be prosecuted,” the department said.
In addition, the department cited the South African Citizenship Act.
The Act provides that any person who obtained South African citizenship by naturalisation, in terms of the Act, shall cease to be a South African citizen if he or she engages under the flag of another country in a war that the Republic does not support or agree with.
“It is in this context that South African citizens should be made aware of the consequences of joining the IDF or any foreign armed forces involved in conflicts to prevent inadvertent complicity in international crimes or violations of domestic law,” the department said. – SAnews.gov.za

Van is getting married, but he and his fiancee acquire never done the deed – in fact he\’s never been with any woman before. He\’s getting more and more nervous as the gigantic day approaches, so he confides in his pal. His pal says \’No worries man. I\’ll advance by the honeymoon suite before you guys acquire there, and I\’ll shroud behind the curtain, and I\’ll whisper instructions to you.\’

So the wedding day arrives, it was a lovely service (so I was told, I wasn\’t there myself) and Van\’s pal sneaks into the honeymoon suite as promised and hides behind the curtain.
Van and his current wife arrive in the room, acquire settled on the bed, and things are getting steamy.
But Van is still super nervous and his tummy is bubbling, so he murmers to his wife, \’Listen babe, I\’m just gonna recede to the bathroom quick. I reflect it\’s that wors roll from earlier.\’
\’Sure thing babe.\’
So Van goes into the bathroom, and he\’s taking quite a long time. And his wife is starting to feel the nerves herself. And it\’s getting worse. She can\’t hold it in. But she doesn\’t want to depart after he\’s gone and totally ruin the mood. So she looks around and finally finds a shoebox. Quickly, she does her business in the shoebox, and she shoves it under the bed just as Van comes back from the loo.
Van gets back on the bed and they recede at it again. But after a minute or so Van smells something not so lekker.
\’What\’s that odor?\’
\’Nothing babe,\’ he wife tries to assure him.
\’No man there\’s definitely something not so lekker in this room!\’VSo Van starts looking around the room, in the corners, in the cupboard, and finally he looks under the bed, and sees the shoebox.
He pull it out, and opens it up, and in horror he shouts \’Sies! Daar\’s kak in hierdie doos!\’
And from behind the curtain his pal yells, \’NEE MAN, DRAAI HAAR OM!\”
