The Joburg Super Kings began the New Year on a truly special note, creating unforgettable memories for children through a heartwarming Make A Wish initiative during their first home match of the SA20 season on January 1 at the iconic Wanderers Stadium.
As part of the campaign, 17 children from Juno Aurora Haven, a children’s safety home, were invited to welcome the New Year with an experience filled with joy, excitement and the magic of live sport during the match against Durban's Super Giants. For the young guests, the day marked not just the start of a new year, but the beginning of a memory they will cherish for a lifetime.
Adding to the celebration, Joburg Super Kings players met the children on the field during the innings break, interacting with them and presenting special gifts as part of the Make A Wish initiative.
In a special cross-sport gesture that highlighted the spirit of togetherness, Kaizer Chiefs players Dillon Solomons and Tashreeq Morris also joined in by presenting prizes to the winners of a fun-filled Dinosaur Race.
The initiative captured the true essence of the New Year — hope, happiness and new beginnings — and showcased how sport can bring communities together beyond competition. For the children from Juno Aurora Haven, it was a joyful and unforgettable way to ring in the New Year.
Through the Make A Wish campaign, Joburg Super Kings continue to demonstrate their commitment to meaningful community engagement, using the power of cricket to create smiles, inspire dreams and make moments that truly matter.
