Laud Beauty introduces The Laud Canon: Summer Edit, a restrained selection of three enduring products chosen by founder Jeri Mookana for the particular demands of a South African summer.

Three products. Three purposes. Nothing unnecessary.

About Laud and the Laud Canon
Laud Beauty exists to make exceptional beauty easier to find. The platform discovers independent brands from around the world and brings a tightly considered selection to South Africa, choosing each one for the things that matter most: formulation, performance and ethos.

Its philosophy is simple: Aesthetician Curated. Consciously Chosen. Beautifully Proven.

At the heart of that philosophy is the Laud Canon, a permanent collection of products that have moved beyond the novelty of a new launch and proved their worth on real skin, in real routines. They are the formulas Laud returns to, recommends repeatedly, and believes deserve a lasting place on the shelf.

Each seasonal Edit then draws from that Canon, bringing a small selection forward for the moment.

“The Canon is our answer to too much choice,” says Jeri Mookana, Founder of Laud Beauty. “Beauty has become incredibly noisy. Our customers don’t need fifty more launches competing for their attention. They want someone they trust to say: these are exceptional, these work, and this is why they are worth knowing. Nothing earns a place in the Canon by accident.”

Why these three, and why now
South African summer has its own set of beauty rules. Sun, heat, salt water, chlorine and long days outdoors can quickly change what skin and hair need. Heavy textures start to feel unnecessary, complicated routines fall away, and the products that remain have to work harder.

That thinking shaped Laud’s Summer Edit.

Rather than building another long seasonal list, Laud selected just three heroes: one for hair, one for skin and one for colour. Each solves a distinct summer need, whether that is protecting, restoring or simply making the routine feel easier.

All three also come from independent beauty houses that reflect Laud’s wider point of view, considered formulation, intelligent use of ingredients and performance that speaks louder than any hype.

“Summer has a way of stripping beauty back to what you actually use,” says Mookana. “These are the three products I would tell a friend to pack before a December holiday: one for the scalp, one for the skin and one for colour. Each has earned its place because of what is inside the bottle, and what it actually does.”

The Laud Canon: Summer Edit

1. Hair: Whamisa Organic Seeds Shampoo for Dry Scalp
RSP R850.00 | 490ml

Sun, salt water, and frequent washing leave the scalp stripped. Whamisa replaces the usual water base with a fermented botanical extract base. Fermented organic seeds, including barley, oat, and soybean, are broken down into smaller particles that the scalp can absorb more easily. The formula helps rebalance the scalp’s pH and soothe summer dryness and flaking. It cleanses and treats the scalp at the same time.

2. Skin: Urang Brightening Blue Oil Serum
RSP R1,180.00 | 30ml

When it gets hot, heavy creams go, but skin still needs a lipid barrier. Urang’s serum gets its blue colour naturally from German chamomile oil, which is rich in chamazulene, known for calming stressed skin. Alpha-bisabolol from the Candeia tree helps even and brighten the complexion. The serum is lightweight, absorbs quickly, and leaves a luminous finish.

3. Colour: Manasi 7 All Over Colour in Fuchsine
RSP R1,100.00

One product for cheeks, lips and eyes. Stockholm-born Manasi 7 makes Fuchsine, a berry-fuchsia that gives a natural “just pinched” flush. Its creamy, buildable texture is made with wildcrafted sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil and beeswax, so it melts into skin and wears comfortably in the heat.

However, those 3 billion people who are social media users are all dealing with “relations,” and everything has become “public”! With social media, everything has been “public” for quite a while now; there is nothing “nonpublic” anymore.” ~ Maxim Behar, The Global PR Revolution: How Thought Leaders Succeed in the Transformed World of PR
