GORDONS BAY, Western Cape — LFC Construction, a Terraforce Recommended Contractor, has published a new project article on the geogrid retaining wall built to add parking at Market Square Shopping Centre. For commercial property owners, the challenge is familiar: more bays are needed, but the only available space is a slope.

Trading centres cannot pause for construction, and a wall that must carry vehicles every day leaves no margin for error. Choosing the wrong structure, or building it without engineering discipline, can mean costly rework, lost parking and disruption to tenants and shoppers.

The article explores how the project was approached, with key areas addressed including:

  • What a geogrid retaining wall is and where it suits commercial sites
  • How the structure was founded and reinforced for daily vehicle loads
  • Why a specific block system was selected for the wall’s height
  • How a tight programme was managed on a live site

One figure shows the scale of the work: 12,392 Terraforce blocks went into a single wall. The article explains what it took to deliver it.

Political monopoly and economic monopoly are two sides of the same coin, two heads of the same monster. Despite all the claims to the contrary, the essential ideology of Neo-Conservatism is to preserve the status quo, with all of its injustices. Its Public Relations experts call for \”freedom and democracy\” without a framework of higher values. They fail to comprehend the need for a paradigm of justice and therefore are blind to what concerns most of the people in the world. This failure is the taproot of terrorism. – Robert Dickson Crane
