March Against Emfuleni Corruption

13 October 2026 by Guest

Statement by Kingsol Chabalala MPL – DA Emfuleni Mayoral Candidate:

The DA led an anti-corruption march in Emfuleni Municipality today, taking a stand against the plundering of taxpayer money.

It’s time to end this chaos, cut out corruption, and deliver services in Emfuleni.

We handed over a memorandum of public concerns to the municipality.

The march and memorandum formally demand accountability from municipal authorities.

The memorandum has raised concerns relating to:

  1. Allegations concerning irregularities and/or fraud in the procurement and management of municipal fleet services and vehicles;
  2. Allegations of nepotism and unfair practices in relation to municipal employment and job opportunities; and
  3. General service-delivery concerns affecting residents of Emfuleni, including the need for improved municipal accountability, responsiveness and delivery of essential services.

Enough is enough! Emfuleni must be freed from corruption.

The theft of public money must end, NOW!

This continuous litany of allegations is relentless and has become corrosive to the integrity of Emfuleni Municipality, eroding the quality of service delivery residents receive.

For Emfuleni residents, the good news is that on 04 November, the power to cut out corruption rests in the hands of voters.

The power to end the corruption is at the ballot box.

If elected to govern, in line with the DA’s Manifesto 2026, I will ensure our municipality employs competent people by enforcing merit-based appointments, setting suitable qualification criteria, and ensuring consequences for poor performance, mismanagement, and corruption.

Professional local government requires strong management capability, mentorship, institutional memory, and skills development.

Corruption has plagued Emfuleni Municipality for far too long, has become endemic, and must end under honest DA-led leadership.
