Our friends at Easy Equities have this to say about the imminent 50-1 stock split:
One of the largest stock splits in New York Stock Exchange history is set to take place this week. Chipotle Mexican Grill will undergo a 50-for-1 split, granting shareholders 49 additional shares for each share they own.
Chipotle Mexican Grill does not pay dividends. However, for stocks that do pay quarterly dividends and are also conducting stock splits this year, Lam Research Corp and Broadcom Inc will perform 10-for-1 splits. Both are featured in our dividend update for this week.
While dividends provide cash payouts to investors, a stock split increases the number of shares an investor holds while proportionally decreasing the price per share. The total value of the investor’s holdings remains the same after the split.
Interestingly, these companies might follow NVIDIA’s lead and increase their payouts after the stock split; NVIDIA previously increased its dividend by 150% alongside a 10-for-1 split.
Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Airtel Africa PLC, 4Sight Holdings, and Vodacom Group are among the companies included in this week’s update, with information on the last date to trade to qualify for their dividends. You can view the full list here or click below to start investing.

Hairpin
Tax revenue: Tax Revenue has increased from R100 billion in 1994 to R1,4 trillion in 2016 in South Africa. Not only does this indicate the efficiency of tax collection, but also a broadening tax base in South Africa. Essentially this means that an accessible target market for start-ups has increased and should continue to increase.
