Leading brand and communications agency, Penquin, has once again proven its creative prowess by clinching gold at the 2024 New Generation Social & Digital Media Awards. The agency was honoured with two prestigious awards: The New Generation Top Graphic Designer of the Year Award – Sponsored by DStv, awarded to Shannon Spolander; and together with Spitfire Inbound, Best Marketing Automation Campaign for their collaborative work with Suzuki Auto South Africa through a case study titled ‘Steering Suzuki to success with marketing automation’.

The 12th edition of the New Gen Awards, which celebrates the finest in social media, digital marketing, and online tech, took place on Thursday, 26th September, in Sandton. It attracted over 500 submissions from leading agencies and corporates, recognising the most creative and impactful digital campaigns across South Africa.

Veronica Moleele, CEO of Penquin, expressed her pride in the team’s accomplishments saying “Winning gold at the New Gen Awards is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of our teams. We are thrilled that Shannon Spolander’s creative brilliance was recognised with the Graphic Designer of the Year award. Additionally, our collaborative efforts with our sister agency Spitfire Inbound and Suzuki Auto South Africa on the marketing automation campaign showcase how innovation and technology can drive success. We’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve made in both areas.”

Through an automated and data-driven marketing approach, the campaign successfully steered Suzuki towards achieving significant business growth, illustrating the power of integrated marketing solutions.

The New Generation Awards are dedicated to recognising excellence in the digital marketing space, celebrating the creativity, innovation, and strategic thinking that propel brands forward. The 2024 edition continued this legacy by offering a platform for standout in-house marketing teams and agencies to present their cutting-edge campaigns, innovative digital strategies, and tech-driven solutions. Spitfire Inbound and Penquin’s gold wins this year are a testament to the agency’s remarkable ability to innovate and implement strategic initiatives that elevate brands to new heights.
