TVET growing need for practical, future-ready skills training supported by immersive technology
Sangari South Africa, an established distributor of Umety’s immersive VR education solutions, is expanding access to the UmetyVR Headset and Umety’s extensive library of more than 1,000 immersive learning modules across South Africa.
“There is a growing need for practical, technology-enabled skills development that prepares students for the workplace. Umety’s solution combines purpose-built education hardware with a rich content library focused on STEM subjects, educational virtual tours, language learning and career exploration,” said Dr Darius Sangari, Director of Sangari South Africa.
“Modules are designed as short, structured lessons of 10 to 15 minutes that include clear learning objectives, interactive simulations and formative assessments with instant feedback. Content is aligned with major international curricula and can support the South African syllabus,” Dr Sangari added.
“The UmetyVR Headset is designed specifically for classroom use. It offers distraction-free, self-paced learning and can operate offline, making it suitable for environments with limited or unreliable connectivity. Teachers can manage sessions, monitor progress and access analytics through an integrated classroom platform. Content is also available across other devices, including interactive flat panels, Chromebooks and tablets.
“For TVET institutions, the solution offers several practical advantages. Students can safely practise and visualise complex technical concepts and processes without the cost or risk associated with physical equipment. Self-paced modules allow learners to repeat activities until they achieve mastery. Immersive simulations increase engagement and help bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Offline capability supports training in areas with limited infrastructure, while analytics give lecturers clear insights into student progress and areas needing reinforcement.
“Umety’s education-first approach aligns strongly with the needs of South African TVET colleges and schools that want to modernise skills training without requiring extensive new infrastructure,” Dr Sangari, added. “We are particularly focused on solutions that help institutions deliver practical, industry-relevant learning at scale. Immersive VR allows students to experience concepts and processes that would otherwise be difficult or expensive to demonstrate in a traditional classroom or workshop.”
Sangari South Africa supplies a range of education technology solutions to schools, colleges, universities and industrial training centres, with a focus on STEM, technical and vocational education.

“I suspect in most companies, the Public Relations person is down at No. 20 in the pecking order. But here, he is fighting incredibly important battles. If a negative story starts running away with itself in the press and is not dealt with fast, it can badly damage the brand, and so we put enormous weight on our PR people.” – Richard Branson
