GQEBERHA: Smart home technology is rapidly evolving, but South African homeowners often face a common hurdle: the physical mismatch between international smart devices and local electrical standards. Today, Straton Electrical is proud to announce the launch of its custom-engineered “4×2 to Euro” Adapter Plate, a locally developed solution that makes installing premium Shelly Wall Displays simple, neat, and professional.

While Shelly’s range of wall-mounted control panels – including the popular Shelly Wall Display and the expansive Shelly Wall Display XL – is celebrated globally for its design and functionality, these devices are built for the circular “Euro-standard” (60mm) flush boxes common in Europe.

In South Africa, the industry standard is the rectangular 4×2 wall box. The result? A “Euro-style” rear projection on the back of the Shelly units prevents them from sitting flush against the wall when installed on standard South African boxes, leaving installers with unsightly gaps or the difficult task of modifying the wall cavity.

“We encountered this challenge firsthand while installing these displays for our clients,” says the team at Straton Electrical. “We were tired of needing hole saws and makeshift solutions to get a professional look. We decided to bridge the gap -literally.”

After rigorous testing and trials, Straton Electrical has finalized a purpose-built 3D-printed adapter plate. The plate mounts directly onto standard 4×2 boxes, providing the perfect circular recess needed to house the Shelly device’s rear projection. The result is a seamless, flush, and professional finish that turns a complex installation into a straightforward task.

Key Benefits of the Stratlec Adapter Plate:

  • Perfect Fit: Engineered specifically to resolve the rear-housing conflict between Euro-designed devices and SA 4×2 boxes.
  • Professional Finish: Eliminates the need for manual drilling or messy wall modifications.
  • Local Innovation: Developed and manufactured in South Africa by the team at Straton Electrical.
  • Compatibility: Ideal for the Shelly Wall Display, Shelly Wall Display XL, and Shelly Wall Display X2i.

The adapter plate is available for purchase immediately through the Stratlec Online Shop.

Free With Purchase:

For a limited time period any purchases of a Shelly Display unit from Stratlec will include one Stratlec Adapter Plate for free.

A Note on Safety:

While the installation of Shelly smart devices is often considered a DIY project, Straton Electrical reminds all customers that electrical safety is paramount. All wiring should be performed by a registered electrical contractor to ensure compliance with South African safety regulations.

About Straton Electrical:

Straton Electrical is a leading provider of electrical solutions and smart home technology based in Gqeberha. With a commitment to innovation and practical problem-solving, Stratlec aims to make the latest global technology accessible and functional for the South African market.

People as disparate as Malcolm X and John D. Rockefeller both spoke to the power and importance of public image. Since PR is something that people who are so fundamentally different can agree on, you know there must be something fundamentally important about it. If you \’re still not convinced that Public Relations is absolutely critical to the success of your business, you\’ll change your mind after reading this selection of quotes.
