The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) herewith extends its deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mrs Hannetjie van Zyl (55), who tragically became the latest victim of a brutal farm murder last night (Monday, 5 October). The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) insists that the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality urgently provide clarity on the monthly levy reportedly being imposed on properties that have been disconnected from the municipal electricity grid and exclusively use solar power. On 4 September 2026, AfriForum questioned the legality, rationality and fairness of this levy, stating that […]

Fixed charges for water, sanitation, and cleaning be set aside from 30 June
The ruling by the Western Cape High Court declaring the City of Cape Town’s fixed tariffs for city-wide cleansing, water and sanitation in the 2025/26 budget unlawful and invalid confirms what the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) has been saying all along. The Court ordered that these tariffs be set aside with effect from 30 […]

Although the implementation of NERSA-approved Eskom tariff increases cannot be circumvented, the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) cannot support a procedurally flawed and unlawful process that violates residents’ right to public participation. The process also disregarded a court judgement in which AfriForum successfully challenged the energy regulator, NERSA, on transparency. The court laid down clear […]

The DA-controlled Western Cape Legislature’s Conduct Committee has predictably followed a dubious quasi-legal process to shut down the questions I raised about a DA MP’s decision to pack a gun for party work in townships.

Among the most significant by-products of the country’s successful hosting of the G20 Leaders’ Summit was that it put the disinformation being pedalled by supremacists about “horrible things” being done to White South Africans to bed.

The fact that the ANC has grossly manipulated Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment policies to favour a small circle of its friends is disgraceful and wasteful, but that does not mean the national imperative to transform ownership of the economy should be abandoned.

If Afriforum has information about acts of terror carried out in the name of the ANC or anyone else during the apartheid era it must share this information with the NPA instead of trying to use it to whitewash apartheid security force killers.

Julius Malema’s conviction on all charges in the firearm case against him is welcomed, but the delay in sentencing, until 23 January 2026, is disappointing. Justice should be served swiftly. The case stems from Malema discharging an assault rifle during the EFF’s 2018 anniversary celebration in Mdantsane. South Africans are tired of crime and government’s […]

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) strongly objected to the Tshwane Metro’s intention to approach the Court of Appeal in a bid to retain the right to bill residents for the controversial cleansing levy of R194,37 per month (excluding VAT). On 31 July 2025, in a case brought by AfriForum, the Pretoria High Court ruled […]

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) echoes the sentiments of those demanding that the North-West University take a stand after the EFF openly sang the controversial “Kill the Boer” song on the Potchefstroom campus. It is utterly unacceptable that the Tshwane Metro continues to bill residents for a cleaning charge that the High Court has declared unlawful. Despite a court ruling on 31 July 2025 setting aside the charge, the Metro still issued bills on 1 September charging residents R194 per month. The charge, originally introduced to maintain landfill […]

Without pragmatic discussion followed by decisive action to address colour-coded inequality South Africa risks being led by a Robert Mugabe. If we don’t prioritise narrowing inequality and accelerate fixing social and economic exclusions and injustices inherited from our divided history, economic growth and social stability will remain pipe dreams.
