The City of Cape Town advises landfill customers that, due to the late approval of the 2025/26 budget, it was not possible to print updated coupon books reflecting the new landfill disposal tariffs in time for the start of the new financial year on 1 July 2025.
Customers will still be required to purchase coupons at the applicable 2025/26 tariff to dispose at landfill from 1 July 2025, however please note that 2024/25 coupons stamped with 2025/26 tariffs will be issued as a temporary measure.
This temporary arrangement is expected to continue for approximately three weeks into the new financial year, after which newly printed coupon books with the correct tariff should become available.
For ease of reference, the 2025/26 tariffs are as follows
| Category | Coupon | Tariff 2025/26 (incl VAT) | Booklet with 20 coupons |
| General Waste | 1 ton | R837.20 | R16 744.00 |
| General Waste | ¼ ton | R209.30 | R4 186.00 |
| Builders’ Rubble | 1 ton | R34.60 | R692 |
The City regrets any confusion this may cause and appreciates customers’ understanding and cooperation during this transition period.
