The most powerful man in South Africa’s telecommunications market | SA News


After over three decades at Vodacom and nearly thirteen years as group CEO, Shameel Joosub is the most powerful man in South African telecommunications.

Vodacom is the dominant telecommunications company in South Africa and is 65%-owned by Vodafone, one of the world’s largest communications companies by revenue.

Vodacom’s latest annual results showed it had almost 46 million customers in South Africa. Its nearest competitor, MTN, recently reported that it had 39.2 million local subscribers.
