Promising to be the biggest Women’s Month celebration yet, the Totalsports Women’s Race proudly continues to empower women while supporting PinkDrive in 2024. The event is set to flood the streets of three major cities in an ocean of pink on Sunday, August 4th in Durban, Friday, August 9th in Cape Town, and Saturday, August 17th in Johannesburg.

“PinkDrive’s involvement as the charity of the Totalsports Women’s Race is incredibly significant,” says Nikki Crous, Head of Marketing at Totalsports. “Their commitment to breast cancer awareness and early detection resonates deeply with our values, and we are proud to support their lifesaving work at the Totalsports Women’s Race. PinkDrive will have a prominent presence at each of the three events. Together, we can truly impact the lives of women across South Africa.”

A Non-Profit Company (NPC), PinkDrive is committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education as well as providing free screening services to the medically uninsured across South Africa.

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is a special Pink event that helps us raise funds to sustain our free services for the medically uninsured,” says Janice Benecke, Marketing & Events Co-ordinator at PinkDrive/Durban. “We are honored to be part of this iconic event. Runners show tremendous support, and even men enjoy dressing in pink to join the celebration and show their support. Hosting the event on three separate days across three cities is a unique approach. The Durban event is particularly special as it offers a beautiful seaside view throughout the race. To all runners in KZN, secure your entries before it’s too late. Encourage your mothers, daughters, aunts, and sisters to join you in dressing in pink and participating in the Totalsports Women’s Race, an event that celebrates women.”

Tenielle Karen, Marketing & Events Co-ordinator at PinkDrive/Western Cape, finds it exhilarating to see women from all corners of South Africa come together to celebrate life at an event dedicated to them. “The Totalsports Women’s Race is special because it unites women from diverse backgrounds for charity, celebrating their unique qualities and showcasing their strength,” she says. “Despite the challenges we face, such as socio-economic issues or crime that may tarnish our cities’ reputations, this event highlights the good that still exists because of people who believe in and do good. I want to express my gratitude to every participant for their support. Your involvement in the race is more than just entertainment; it’s a loving gesture that could potentially save a life.”

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is special because it celebrates women,” says Nelius du Preez, Operations Manager at PinkDrive/Johannesburg. “There aren’t enough opportunities to celebrate the women of South Africa. Being able to celebrate women throughout August, while also raising awareness for breast cancer is a fantastic opportunity. In Johannesburg, we witness entire families coming out to support women. The sportsmanship and family outing for the day make it more beautiful than just receiving a medal at the end of the race. We are proud to be part of this fantastic event again in 2024.”
