Toyota Urban Cruiser Recalls

31 July 2026 by Guest

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) notifies consumers that Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd is recalling certain Toyota Urban Cruiser vehicles that were made available for sale through the Toyota South Africa dealer network nationwide from 17 January 2025 to 03 June 2025.

The recall affects two thousand two hundred and eight (2208) vehicles, of which two thousand and fifteen (2015) were sold in the South African market and the balance of one hundred and ninety-three (193) units were exported to neighbouring countries, comprising to Eswatini (14), Botswana (23), Lesotho (5), and Namibia (151).

During the manufacturing process of the combination meter, there is a possibility that the improper correction value of the fuel indicator has been written in the memory of the combination meter. As a result, the fuel level indicator in the combination meter may indicate more fuel than actually remaining.

The low fuel warning light may not turn on as the fuel decreases, so the driver may not notice and run out of fuel, resulting in the engine stalling and the engine not starting.

Consumers who own the affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to their nearest authorised Toyota dealership for a fuel gauge inspection. Any corrective work will be performed at no cost.

Questions and queries relating to this recall may be directed to: ProductRecall@thencc.org.za.
