Walmart’s first store in Africa to open at Joburg’s Clearwater Mall | SA News

US retail giant Walmart revealed on Thursday that its first-ever Walmart-branded store in South Africa and the African continent will launch at Clearwater Mall, located on Joburg’s West Rand.

An official opening date is expected to be announced in the next few weeks. Clearwater Mall is owned by JSE-listed retail landlord Hyprop Investments.

There was initial speculation that the first Walmart-branded store would be located in Fourways Mall, which is part-owned by Accelerate Property Fund, although Massmart never officially confirmed this.
