15 Clean Audits in 15 Years

23 March 2026 by Guest

In a corporate environment where financial mismanagement and compliance failures often dominate headlines, one woman at Hyundai Automotive South Africa is quietly rewriting the narrative, one audit at a time. What makes her story even more compelling is where it began.

Renske Van Den Heever, Regional Financial Manager: Gauteng started her career as a Receptionist, entering the workplace at a young age following the passing of her father. Faced with early responsibility, she worked hard to support her family whilst still pursuing her dream of being an Accountant.

Today, her 20-year career is defined by an impressive and an unbroken record: achieving 15 consecutive clean audits in 15 years since being promoted as an Accountant and later to her current position. This success translates to zero unauthorised, irregular or wasteful expenditure and 100% internal compliance.

“Accounting is not just about compliance but responsibility because at the end of the day, it is about doing things right…doing your best even when no one is watching,” she says.

“For me, compliance is binary. You are either 100% compliant or non-compliant. I am highly detail-oriented and thorough in my work by reviewing journals and reports very carefully before submission. I approach every task with dedication and a mindset of continuous learning, no matter how small it may seem.”

Hyundai Automotive South Africa operates in a sector where financial discipline directly impacts innovation, pricing and customer trust. Behind the scenes, Van Den Heever ensures that every rand is accounted for, every process is compliant and every audit passes, year after year.

“Renske represents the highest standards of financial stewardship,” says Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa. “Her 15-year record of zero overspending and clean audits is highly impressive. We are proud of her exceptional work ethic and congratulate her on this major achievement.”

Her manager, Thembeka Ngubane says Van Den Heever’s influence extends far beyond compliance. Supporting others and sharing knowledge is central to her approach, resulting in overall team success.

“Renske is exceptionally meticulous. She does not leave room for error,” says Ngubane. “Her level of discipline raises the bar for the entire team. She is not only a top performer but a standard-setter.”

Van Den Heever’s colleagues describe her as detail-obsessed and deeply committed.

“Renske does not just do accounting: she lives it, loves it, eats it and dreams it. That passion shows in her excellent results. She is also a great mentor to many aspiring accountants in the organisation.”
