300 Days Of Demonstrating

Local government is in a state of collapse. Rubbish piles up, water and electricity outages are widespread, criminals have taken over our cities and towns, and politicians sit in air-conditioned sedans prioritizing tender contracts. The rot starts from the top, and, now, an already underfunded local government system faces complete implosion.

It does not have to continue this way. This year, South Africans have an opportunity to sweep those who have broken their municipalities out of office and replace them with credible and capable leaders.

This posting will continue until the Local Government Elections, because South Africans need hope and an alternative. On a daily basis South Africans endure service delivery collapse and political parties that spend most of their time and energy focussing on one another and not on the needs of the service delivery needs of residents.

The record of service of people from Herman Mashaba, Athol Trollip, and Dr. Nasiphi Moya is not debatable, it is demonstrable. Mary Phadi and Xolani Khumalo promise to do the same in Nkangala and Ekurhuleni should they be given the mandate to govern. ActionSA has other national leaders also waiting in the wing who are ready to step in fix our broken cities, towns, and villages.

The reality that South Africans are increasingly coming to terms with is that ActionSA leaders have a track record of fixing what others have broken. Political parties that have been around for decades have shattered local government service delivery and if South Africans keep voting the same way they have always voted, the situation will only get worse.
