A Touch of Warmth for Hanover Park

24 June 2025 by Guest

Dear Editor

Today, as part of a nationwide initiative, members of the Democratic Alliance Federal and Regional Leadership handed over blankets to residents of Hanover Cottages, in Hanover Park.

The DA blanket drive which aims to collect and distribute blankets across the country to South Africans in need of extra warmth and comfort, was initiated in the month of June to mark 25 years of the Democratic Alliance serving South Africans, fighting for freedom, fairness, opportunity and diversity.

Since the formation of the Democratic Alliance in June 2000, the party has experienced significant growth, and has gained the trust of South Africans due to its excellent service delivery, and financial management.

As we mark 25 years of service to South Africans, we want to celebrate the millions of South Africans who have put their faith in the DA. Through their support, the party has been able to build a team of thousands of Councillors, members of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures.

The DA currently governs in 30 municipalities across the country, as well as the province of the Western Cape, and has 6 ministers and 6 deputy ministers in national government. Where the DA governs, life for residents improves as their government ensures their rates and taxes are used to deliver essential services, improve infrastructure, grow the economy and create jobs.

Current polling shows that the party continues to enjoy the support and trust of South Africans from all across the country, as we pursue our goal of becoming the largest party in South Africa.

We are extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve. At the same time, we are acutely aware of the enormous amount of work to still be done. We are committed to ensuring that all South Africans get to live in a country where they have the opportunity for a life filled with prosperity.

Regards

John Steenhuisen MP
Leader of the Democratic Alliance
