The moans and groans about the current name for Port Elizabeth – Gqeberha – continue.

Gqeberha residents still refer to the city as PE and refuse to use ‘that’ name.

So – here is a compromise for the transition:

  • For any events in Gqeberha before 22 February 2021 we can refer to the timeline as BGQ – Before Geqeberha
  • For any events in Gqeberha after that date we can refer to the timeline as APE – After Port Elizabeth.

For me though – GQ has a nice ring to it and MyGQ even better!
