Big lie about TV Licences in South Africa | SA News


The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC’s) debt collectors, employed to collect non-payment of TV licence fees, use scare tactics and fake “deals” to try to convince holders to pay the fees.

While some debt collection campaigns threaten non-paying TV licence holders with trace alerts against their names, others offer false discounts on the amounts owed.

Typical examples of these kinds of campaigns, generally distributed via SMS to non-payers, are as follows:
