Broos Names Prelim Bafana Squad for 2025 Afcon Qualifiers

In the News Today: 24 September 2024 – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 33-member preliminary squad for next month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Congo.

Broos’ charges face the Congolese in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, on Friday, 11 October 2024 (7pm), and then they travel to Congo to play the return match on Tuesday, 15 October 2024. The final 23-member squad will be announced in the next few days.

SAFA will communicate the ticket information and the home match venue this week. The two top finishers will qualify for the tournament to be hosted in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026… continue reading HERE.

  1. Sport Trivia: Who was South Africa\’s first Olympic Gold Medal winner? Answer: Reginald Walker. Reginald Walker was born in 1889 in Natal and in 1907 was the South African 100m champion. He battled with finances to get to London for the 1908 Summer Olympics but once he was there he managed, very unexpectedly to all those competing, to beat the field and walk off with the Gold for the 100m.
