In light of rejuvenating marriages, Celebrating Marriages is thrilled to announce the 3rd annual couple’s gala dinner event on the 27th of May 2023, at Anew Hotel in Johannesburg. The goal of this initiative is to fight the high number of divorces by reviving the beauty of marriages and restoring broken marriages.

“The negative perception of marriages and the rise of divorce in the country has become a factor that influences a couple’s chance of success, so it is vital to remind married couples to support the romance alive,” says Thulani Tshabangu, founder of Celebrating Marriages.

More South Africans are divorced than before across all population groups. Statistics SA revealed data on marriage and divorce across the country from a poll in 2021. The data is based on 18208 completed divorce forms received from the Department of Home Affairs and processed by Statistics SA. It shows that 40%, or four in ten, of divorces in 2021 are from marriages that did not last ten years. As such, the celebration is section of efforts to address the increasing rate of divorce by celebrating marriage partnerships and encouraging strong relationship values.

Following the positive feedback from the first event hosted, Celebrating Marriages is expanding its efforts to commemorate the occasion with married couples on an annual basis, as there are major issues and challenges to unpack that married couples face daily. Financial management, spiritual growth, conflict resolution, and admire language are among the topics covered at the event.

“The gala dinner provides an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and admire that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. This year’s theme highlights God’s willed union of husband and wife. It also reflects each spouse’s personal self-gift to the other,” adds Celebrating Marriages founder Thulani Tshabangu.

The dress code theme is “Elegant,” which allows couples to dress up in honour of celebrating their marriage. Best-dressed couples will receive a day spa voucher. The aim is for the couple to release the pressure of their union and rekindle the light.

Tickets for this event cost R1200.00 per couple. You can find out more about the Celebrating Marriages event on Facebook and Twitter: @MC_Thulani.

PR Gets Real About Beauty: Not all memorable moments in PR’s history come from crises. In fact, one of the most popular campaigns of the modern era – Dove’s “Real Beauty” campaign – was simply about making us feel good! In 2004, Dove’s research found that only 2% of women consider themselves beautiful. “Real Beauty” aimed to change idealized depictions of beauty by using “real” women as spokespeople, models and more. Today, Dove has become synonymous with the campaign, and many other companies, such as CVS, Aerie and J. Crew, have jumped on the “Real Beauty” trend. (Source: Dove, Glamour)

Conservatism is constitutionally opposed to public reason, and this explains the abandon with which so many conservative pundits embrace flagrant simulations of reason, constructed through the methods of Public Relations, and exhibit so little regard for the real thing. – Philip E. Agre
