Chamane Eyes Fourth Consecutive Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon Gold

With three gold medals already to her name, Busisiwe Chamane will be determined to add to her impressive tally when she lines up at the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon powered by BYD on Sunday, 12 April 2026.

Having earned three consecutive top ten finishes from three starts between 2023 and 2025, the Hollywood Athletics Club ace doesn’t need to be asked twice to list what she loves most about her favorite half marathon.

“I think I love the atmosphere more than anything,” smiles Chamane. “The environment is so amazing. I love everything about Two Oceans especially the weather because it’s almost like Durban, but the humidity is lower in Cape Town.”

Chamane was speaking after winning the Balwin Run Series Dolphin Coast Half Marathon in a dominant 1:18:57 which was more than five minutes before Comrades gold medalist Janie Grundlig crossed the line in 1:24:15 and exactly forty seconds faster than her fastest Two Oceans clocking.

“The race started well and I was running at my target race pace until about 15km when I felt a slight strain on my hamstring which forced me to slow down a little bit. At least I managed to push and win the race,” said the lanky athlete who works full time for the Ethekwini Municipality.

Considered in the context of the hot and humid Durban conditions on 22 March, Chamane’s victory suggests that she could improve on her best Two Oceans Half Marathon finish – the third place she achieved last year. The 32-year-old, who is coached by veteran Durban-based former top runner Shepard Chitake, is confident that the hamstring niggle is nothing to worry about, leaving her optimistic that she can secure a fourth consecutive Two Oceans Half Marathon 21km gold medal on 12 April.

“Yes of course. A gold is there for the taking so I’m definitely going for a gold medal again. Anything more than that would be a bonus.”

“Busisiwe Chamane has established herself as one of the standout performers in the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon in recent years,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC. “Securing three consecutive gold medals is an incredible achievement, and we look forward to seeing her return to the start line in April with the opportunity to add yet another remarkable chapter to her Two Oceans journey.”

Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD, is equally excited to see Chamane return to the start line: “Busisiwe’s consistency and determination have made her a firm favourite at the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon. To line up with three gold medals already to her name speaks volumes about her quality as an athlete, and we are excited to see her take on the challenge again as she aims for a fourth consecutive gold medal.”

Part of what the food industry does with Public Relations, just like the chemical industry or the oil industry, is to try to erase their fingerprints from their messaging. So when consumers hear about a recent effort like the \”food dialogues\” put on by a group called the US Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, do they know necessarily that these \”dialogues\” are being funded by companies like Monsanto, a large chemical company and the controller of most of the patents on genetically modified seeds? No, they don\’t. – Anna Lappe

What constitutes a good manager in this field? He must be knowledgeable in the art with which he is concerned, an impresario, labor negotiator, diplomat, educator, publicity and Public Relations expert, politician, skilled businessman, a social sophisticate, a servant of the community, a tireless leader – becomingly humble before authority – a teacher, a tyrant, and a continuing student of the arts. – John D. Rockefeller
