Gqeberha, South Africa, 16 October 2024 – The Coega Development Corporation (COEGA) is honoured to have received the Merit Award for Best Service Provider to Exporters: New Contracts, at the Eastern Cape Exporter of the Year Awards, which took place in Gqeberha on Friday, 11 October 2024.

The Best Service Provider Category recognises organisations that provide first-rate services to the export industry, including freight forwarding and clearing agents, shipping lines and agents, and transportation services, amongst others.

Ms. Anathi Mlungwana, Head of Coega’s Trade Facilitation Unit, said that the award highlights Coega’s dedication to excellence in trade facilitation and logistics, demonstrated through strategic partnerships and exceptional service to Coega SEZ investors and clients through the Coega SEZ One-Stop-Shop.

As a multi-award-winning SEZ, Coega offers unparalleled access to African and global markets. The SEZ’s prime location adjacent to the deepwater Port of Ngqura provides seamless connectivity for trade and export activities. In the 2023/24 financial year, Coega reported 60 operational investors, creating over 10,000 jobs. To contribute to trade and the ease of doing business in the SEZ, Coega’s Cargo Depot, built on world-class infrastructure, consists of a 3600 m2 secure warehousing facility offering of 1200 m2 hardstand space for containers and cargo.

Coega’s Customs Manager, Ms. Gerda Smit, shared that the SEZ’s strategic location, just 1-kilometre from the Port of Ngqura, and state-of-the-art infrastructure continue to contribute to the seamless flow of goods and services, empowering businesses to thrive
in a competitive market.

“This award validates our efforts to create a business-friendly environment within the SEZ through the Coega Cargo Depot and Coega SEZ One-Stop-Shop. We are committed to continuing our work and striving for even greater excellence,” said Smit.

The Coega SEZ One-Stop-Shop is a centralised platform designed to streamline the processes and procedures involved in doing business within the Coega SEZ. It serves as a single point of contact for investors, providing comprehensive support and guidance on, but not limited to, incentives and regulations, and assisting investors with approvals, permits, licenses, and registrations.

“As a strategic gateway to African and global markets, the Coega SEZ offers unparalleled access and support to businesses seeking to expand their reach and drive export growth.

Through our dedicated Trade Facilitation Unit, One-Stop-Shop and unwavering focus on providing exceptional services, Coega continues to be a driving force in the region’s export industry,” concluded Mlungwana.
