Completely Out of the Blue

11 June 2025 by Guest

The inaugural Jetour Festival, held at Casalinga in Johannesburg at the end of May, was a vibrant celebration featuring some of South Africa’s top musical talent and a stunning showcase of the currently available Jetour models. But for one lucky festival-goer, the highlight was winning a Jetour for an entire year. Callan Abrahams, from Fairland in Johannesburg, will enjoy the experience of driving both the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus, and will be among the first South Africans to get behind the wheel of the upcoming T1 and T2 models, set to launch later this year.

Realising she’d been working too hard and needed a break, Callan accepted an invitation to attend the Jetour Festival from a friend at 947, the festival’s media partner. Another friend reminded her that life is about more than work, and the fact that some of her favourite artists — Zakes Bantwini , the Parlotones, Mi Casa, and Shekhinah — were performing, also helped her decide to attend, and she couldn’t be happier that she did.

In addition to making new friends throughout the day, Callan was deeply inspired by Mi Casa’s J’Something, who reminded the crowd not to worry so much about what others think, and to just dance! “I felt like I reconnected with a younger version of myself, the part of me that remembered how to have fun, how to just be. The experience was a powerful reminder that there’s so much more to life than just working all the time,” she says.

Callan says she was completely shocked when her name was announced as the winner. “I didn’t expect it at all. I was just having such a great time, dancing, enjoying the moment, taking in the people around me. I wasn’t thinking about winning anything. So, when they called out my name, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh — it’s me!”

Callan, a Principal AI Consultant at the tech company iOCO, doesn’t currently own a car due to the long hours she spends working from home, but after coming across the Jetour T2 on TikTok, she had already set her sights on it long before attending the Jetour Festival.

Callan says being selected as the winner of the Jetour experience felt like a sign from the universe — a reminder that when you open yourself up to new experiences, anything can happen. “It was like proof that magic can happen when you just say yes to life.”

She also resonates deeply with the spirit of the Jetour brand itself — how it encourages people to step out, explore, and embrace adventure. “Ironically, it’s often us ‘nerdy’ data scientists who crave that sense of freedom the most,” she says with a laugh. “Our lives are usually filled with Teams meetings and structured routines. But this experience reminded me that adventure is possible — that I can take those meetings from anywhere with a Wi-Fi signal. I don’t have to just work from home. I can work from anywhere — within reason, of course!”

Callan says the current Jetour models are stunning and is amazed by the interior. “It feels incredibly premium. I still can’t believe how affordable these cars are! The interior looks like it belongs in a vehicle that costs four times as much as a Jetour!”

“I’m so excited to drive the T2 and take part in future events,” Callan says. “I’ve realised there’s so much more out there, and this could really help me with this whole ‘live life’ journey. I’m eager to join the community and explore what else I can be part of.”

“I’m incredibly grateful and thankful. It feels like such a blessing, completely out of the blue and at the perfect time,” she says.

Callan is currently driving the five-seater Jetour Dashing which combines sleek design with advanced technology, offering a dynamic and stylish driving experience. She will then take a turn in the Jetour X70 Plus, which delivers spacious comfort and powerful performance, making it an ideal SUV for both city driving and off-road adventures. Towards the end of the year, Callan will be experiencing the versatility and innovation of both the Jetour T1 and T2.

Polo Leteka always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but couldn\’t quite decide on which direction to go in. She spent several years in the private and public sectors, and during her tenure in Government she knew she wanted to have a greater impact on helping South Africans follow their dreams by becoming entrepreneurs. She launched Capital Partners, an SME enterprise advisory and fund managing service firm. She brought two partners into the business to expand the services they could offer. Leteka went on to become one of the \”dragons\’ on the South African edition of Dragons\’ Den, investing in start-up businesses.
