Congo Finally Land: In a dramatic turn of events, Congo arrived in Gqeberha late on Thursday for their vital Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Bafana Bafana on Friday.

They arrived in the city after 6pm and then went straight to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for a light training session to relax their muscles after a long trip.

There was concern during the day as their whereabouts were not known because they were expected in the country earlier — but the important qualifier will go ahead as planned.

In his earlier press conference, Bafana coach Hugo Broos said Congo’s chaotic travelling may galvanise the team… continue reading HERE.

Bafana Bafana’s leading Afcon qualifier goalscorers: Bafana Bafana take on Congo in a home 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Gqeberha on Friday, the first of two games against the central African side in a matter of days that could have a huge bearing on their attempt to reach the finals in Morocco.

A pair of wins, which would include the away clash in Brazzaville on Tuesday, and they will be almost certain to book their ticket. But it will be no easy task.

As we gear up for the game in Gqeberha, we look back at who have been Bafana’s leading scorers in the preliminary stage of the Cup of Nations down the years, a list that does not necessarily have names you might expect, with some notable absentees.

Zuma scored his first in a 3-0 win over Mauritius in March 2001, but then had to wait until the 2008 qualification campaign to add to his tally. He hit a hot… continue reading HERE.

It will operate 12 weekly flights to both Harare and Lusaka, an increase from the current ten times a week to Harare and seven to Lusaka.

Flights to Lagos and Accra will increase from three to four times a week.

The airline will also begin flying twice daily to Mauritius from the beginning of December to coincide with the peak holiday season. This is a year-round addition.

This, after Eastern Cape farmer Herman Botha took wildlife conservationist, farmer, researcher and activist Bool Smuts to court after the latter published Botha’s personal information on social media platform Facebook.

Process for Yashin Trophy, for which Ronwen Williams is nominated, explained: Contrary to some reports, the Fifa Ballon d’Or Yashin Trophy for which Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has been nominated is not selected by a public voting process.

Williams made history in early September by becoming the first goalkeeper to be nominated for the trophy while playing for an African club.

The Ballon d’Or presented by magazine France Football, since 1956, to its best footballer of the northern hemisphere season. It is normally presented in October. It should not be confused with Fifa’s Best Award, which is normally presented at the end of a calendar year and covers that period.

The Ballon d’Or was presented in a five-year period where Fifa and France Football merged their awards from 2010 to 2015.

Confusion has reigned in South Africa since Williams’ nomination, with multiple reports stating the award is decided by… continue reading HERE.

Hawks arrest foreign national in Gqeberha: A 43-year-old foreign national nabbed by the Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation (known as the Hawks) is facing an array of charges including fraud, corruption and being illegally in the country, after he was found with marriage certificates and other documents.

Akhatar Rajjab, 43, was arrested by the Hawks and appeared in Gqeberha New Law court this week. He has been remanded in custody and expected to make a bid for bail next week.

The Hawks said Rajjab was arrested following an intelligence-driven operation.

“It is alleged that the complainant, who happened to be an official from the Department of Home Affairs, received information about a foreign national who was reportedly issuing fraudulent bank statements, police certificates and radiology reports in order to renew permits,” said Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson…continue reading HERE.

Day two of a 2 200km road trip across South Africa in electric cars, in which TechCentral is participating, proved even more eventful than the drama-filled first day, with trouble starting not long after the conclusion of a leisurely breakfast in Graaff-Reinet.

After a later-than-scheduled arrival in Nieu-Bethesda on Thursday evening – after resolving our charging authentication challenges in Colesberg – it was another pre-dawn, coffee-fuelled start.

We were on the road at dawn, en route to the Drostdy Hotel in Graaff-Reinet that has the only direct-current fast charger in town. Our ultimate destination for the day was Gqeberha.

Hefty sentences for Gqeberha armed robbers: Years after their armed robbery went wrong, resulting in a shoot-out with police and the death of their accomplice, three men were handed hefty sentences in the Gqeberha high court.

Mzamo Mzobe, 31, Vuyo Mayekiso, 43, and Nasiphi Siphamandla Khoza, 28, were handed effective sentences ranging from 15 years to life after they were convicted on several charges, including murder, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mzobe, who was released on parole on two previous convictions, will have to serve the remainder of those sentences before his latest sentence commences.

The three were arrested after a robbery at the New Image Store in Sidwell on August 6 2021.

Mayekiso, Khoza, an unidentified man, and Sabelo Mdevulana drove to the store, where Mayekiso stayed in the car while the others, armed with firearms, entered.

So I\’m real good friends with this guy named Juan Ted. Now, Juan is a pretty unbelievable guy. He can steal ANYTHING he wants to. Literally anything. It could be the shirt off your back, the wallet in your pocket, or I\’m even sure he\’d find a way to steal your house (And your spouse too). So anyway, one day Juan and I are sitting around watching TV, and they announced that the hope diamond will not be on display anymore and is now getting moved to an undisclosed location. So as we hear this, Juan says \”I\’m gonna steal it\”. Now I know how good Juan is at this kind of stuff, so I just tell him good luck and he goes on his way. Eventually he narrows his search down to a small cave in South Africa. When Juan gets there, he doesn\’t see any guards or anything outside the cave, so he just walks in assuming he was wrong about where the diamond was. He wanders around for a while until he sees a long lit hallway with the hope diamond at the end of it. Confident in his abilities, he strolls over to the diamond and picks it up before realizing its a trap! Suddenly, red lights flashed, armed men came running out, sirens went off. You could hear one of the men say under his breath \”We finally caught Juan Ted.\” But Juan, being the best thief in the world, said \”Not quite. On the count of three, I will disappear.\” As the men looked around confused, Juan began to count. \”Uno. Dos.\” And he disappeared without a tres.

A Priest was seated next to Van Der Merwe on a flight to Brakpan.

After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken.

Van Der Merwe asked for a Rum and Coke, which was brought and placed before him.

The flight attendant then asked the priest if he would like a drink.

He replied in disgust \”I\’d rather be savagely raped by a dozen whores than let liquor touch my lips.\”

Van Der Merwe then handed his drink back to the attendant and said \”Me too, I didn\’t know we had a choice.\”
