JOHANNESBURG: Hollywoodbets Dolphins secured another CSA T20 Challenge final spot with a five-wicket victory over Dafabet Warriors at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead on Thursday.

Dolphins opted for the ball first, when Andile Mogakane (77) powered the Warriors to respectable innings score of 161/4.

Warriors got off to a slow start when Jiveshan Pillay fell early to bring Mogakane to the crease. He put up a 78-run partnership with his skipper, Matthew Breetzke (38) and 53 runs with Jordan Hermann (20*) to propel the visitors to a competitive score.

In reply, the Dolphins’ Khaya Zondo (49) took charge during the powerplay, forging a solid 64-run opening stand with Grant Roelofsen (16).

Contributions from Jon Jon Smuts (34) and Jason Smith (30*) ensured the Dolphins chased down the target comfortably, reaching the required score with 12 balls to spare.

Dolphins will travel to Johannesburg to face the DP World Lions in the CSA T20 Challenge final at the Bullring on Sunday, 28 April 2024 with the match scheduled to commence at 14h00.Tickets for the final are available at Ticketpro.

Spectators can look forward to massive entertainment, including the popular catch and win prize. The DP World Wanderers created excitement in the semi-final as one lucky fan walked away with R100,000, with the prize money doubling for the final.

AB de Villiers: Mr 360 came conquered and left an everlasting admiration from the cricketing world. De Villiers is known for his style, his ability to hit the ball to every corner of the park and bring opponents to their knees.
De Villiers is one of the best-limited overs batsmen the world has seen. He is a 3-time ICC ODI player of the year winner. He also holds the record for the fastest hundred in ODI cricket, when he smashed a 100 off 31 balls.
De Villiers has scored 9,577 ODI runs and somewhere these stats have overshadowed his performances in red-ball cricket. He has smashed 8,776 test runs with an average of 50.66 which makes him one of the few batsmen to have above 50 averages in both formats.
De Villiers has scored 19,864 runs in all formats which makes him the 2nd highest run-scorer in Protea’s history.

Sport Trivia: At the 2007 Cricket World cup, this South African batsman made history when he became the first player to hit six sixes in an over in a ODI match. Answer: Herschelle Gibbs. Herschelle is one of the Protea\’s best batsmen with over 5000 Test runs and over 6000 ODI runs. He is also an excellent fielder, and bowls in first class matches. When Herschelle is on form there is no stopping him, with many centuries and half centuries to his name. However, he also has a fair share of ducks and many matches where he has failed to make 10 runs.

In case of windy conditions during a match, the umpires may decide to have the bails removed to avoid having them blown off. They may also be replaced by heavier bails to keep them secure on the stumps. Although the bails may not be present, they are assumed to still be on the stump. It will then be up to the umpires to decide if the wicket had been broken or not.
