I am sure most of us have heard and/or seen clips of USA President Donald Trump promising American Citizens $5000 each if the Republicans win the House of Representatives vote in the Senate.
If you, like me, have been grappling with the notion that this is wrong then maybe you will be in for a surprise after you read what AI has to say about this in comparison to a similar question from a South African context.
All I can deduce from this is that it certainly appears that South African Electoral law is way stronger and more definitive than it’s counterpart in the USA.
In addition these findings have made me wonder how people can refer to Trump as a Dumb President – just like our home grown example, Jacob Zuma – Trump has proven again and again just how closely he skates on thin ice without his bulk breaking it.
The Comparison is below:
| South African Context | United States Context |
|---|---|
| “If the PA win the Nelson Mandela Bay Local General Elections on 4 November then we will give all Adult citizens in Nelson Mandela Bay R500 each.” | “If Republicans win the House of Representatives in the Senate I am going to give all Adult citizens in the United States of America $5000 each.” |

\”The counsel on Public Relations is not an advertising man but he advocates for advertising where that is indicated. Very often he is called in by an advertising agency to supplement its work on behalf of a client. His work and that of the advertising agency do not conflict with or duplicate each other. ~ #Edward Bernays
