Decisive Joburg By-Election Victory

26 February 2026 by Guest

Statement by Wendy Alexander MP – DA Johannesburg Regional Chairperson:

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has surged to victory in today’s Johannesburg, Ward 102 by-election. This decisive victory only serves to confirm what we already know: Joburg is ready for change.

The DA’s vote share in Johannesburg Ward 102 grew as follows: From 60,98% in 2024 to 94,80% in 2026

Voters in Johannesburg Ward 102 chose service delivery, transparency, and a commitment to clean governance today. We are confident that today’s success will be replicated come the local government election, where voters in Johannesburg will have the chance to rid themselves of a careless, ineffective government.

Newly elected Ward Councillor Campbell-Cloete has the DA’s full support, and we look forward to her representing the interests of Ward 102 in the Johannesburg Council Chamber.

Our sincerest thanks goes out to every single voter who made their mark next to the DA today. The DA stands ready to turn our City around, alongside all those who Believe in Joburg.

Laduma! – he scores! [laa-doo-maa] This term is usually screamed out when a soccer team scores a goal. Extend any of the syllables for full effect.Example: “Laaaaaaduuuuumaaaa!”
