Department condemns Limpopo land invasion

Department condemns Limpopo land invasion

The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development has condemned the unlawful demarcation and sale of residential stands on the remaining extent of the farm Wolferoode 38 in Makhado Local Municipality, Limpopo.

The invaded land is located just after Mpheni Village, along the D4 road from Elim town towards Vuwani and Malamulele.

The department said the property, which is under land claim, is State-owned and used for agricultural purposes.

“It is not allocated to any individual or any traditional authority. The selling of pieces of land as ‘residential stands’ is, therefore, fraudulent and illegal,” the department said in a statement on Friday.

The department has also warned those who bought sites and built informal houses, or houses at the site that they are regarded as illegal occupiers and will “ultimately lose those properties”.

“Community members and other individuals who purchased stands from unscrupulous sellers are warned that such is invalid and unlawful. 

“The department is in consultation with all relevant sector stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies to ensure that all legal avenues are explored to resolve the land invasion challenge and to allow the process of restoring the land to the rightful claimants and beneficiaries to continue without disturbance,” the department said. – SAnews.gov.za

    The father however, was desperate to know the newborn baby\’s weight. After quite a bit of asking around, the hospital\’s chairman came up with an idea.

    \”Five miles west, there\’s a butcher shop. The owner deals with meat, he should have a rather precise scale. You could just put your baby on the meat scale, and the weight reading you\’ll get should be pretty accurate.\”

    And so the father departed westward. After much walking, with his newborn child cardled safely in his arms, he finally arrived at the butcher shop. He explained his dilemma to the shop owner, to witch the latter replied:

    \”Don\’t worry, friend. It\’s not even a problem, I\’ll check it for you, free of charge.\” And so he took the child to the back, where the scale was located.

    The father heard rumbling noises, and some scraping.. About a minute later the butcher came back.

    \”About three pounds boneless\” He said.
