Driving licence card backlog slashed by almost 75% | SA News

The Department of Transport (DoT) is close to establishing a back-up system at the Government Printing Works (GPW) for the printing of driving licence cards.

In the meantime, it has seen the driving licence backlog drop from about 800 000 in May to around 200 000 currently.

Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy also said the DoT was informed on Friday that its high court application on how to proceed with the R898 million tender award for a new driving licence card machine will not be opposed.
