SAPS Imposter Asking for Donations

In the News Today: The Durban North CPF has warned residents to be wary of a man purporting to be a member of the SAPS asking for cash donations for various causes.

According to the public relations officer for the CPF, Darryl Oliver, the man has also targeted the Sunningdale area recently, however, residents did not fall for the scam.

“The individual goes around, sometimes with a letter complete with a SAPS logo at the top. The letter is from a Captain Govender, whom he claims to be. He also has, in the past, claimed to be a Captain Naidoo and a pastor. The letter he presents claims to be for raising funds or collecting donations and asks for a donation of R20.
