The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) joins millions across South Africa, the African continent, and the world in commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a historic and spiritual moment that carries profound lessons of sacrifice, resistance, and ultimate victory over injustice.
Easter is both a religious observance, and a revolutionary reminder that even in the face of brutal oppression, betrayal, and state violence, truth and justice cannot be buried forever. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was the silencing of a radical voice that stood with the poor, the marginalised, and the oppressed. His resurrection, however, is the ultimate declaration that no force of darkness can permanently defeat the will of the people.
Today, we reflect on this message in a world engulfed by war, deepening inequality, economic exclusion, and the continued suffering of the working class. Across the globe, imperialism, racism, and capitalist greed continue to crucify the hopes of the poor. In South Africa, millions remain trapped in poverty, unemployment, and landlessness.
The EFF calls on all people to draw strength from the revolutionary teachings of Jesus Christ, who confronted unjust authority, exposed hypocrisy, and stood firmly on the side of the oppressed. His life was a direct challenge to systems of exploitation, and his resurrection symbolises that justice is inevitable.
This Easter, we must rise, like Christ, against the systems that seek to keep our people in perpetual suffering. The struggle for economic freedom, land restoration, and true equality is the modern-day continuation of that revolutionary mission.
Let this Easter ignite in us the courage to confront evil in all its forms, whether it manifests as poverty, corruption, gender-based violence, or the exploitation of African resources. Let it remind us that sacrifice is necessary, that struggle is inevitable, but that victory is certain.
As we observe this sacred period, the EFF further calls on all South Africans to use this time to strengthen the bonds of family and community. We encourage everyone to enjoy meaningful time with their loved ones, to extend a hand of generosity to the less fortunate, and to embody the spirit of compassion and solidarity that defines this season.
We also urge all citizens to act responsibly during this period: drive safely on our roads and avoid reckless behaviour, and if you consume alcohol, do so with discipline and responsibility. The preservation of life must remain a collective priority.
The EFF believes that good will triumph over evil not by chance, but through organised, conscious, and militant action of the masses particularly in this year we have declared the year of victory or death. We, therefore, wish all fighters, supporters, and communities a reflective and powerful Easter. May it renew our commitment to justice and inspire us to build a society where the dignity of all is restored.
