Xanman opens up about growing up fast, sharing that his mom had him at 15 and both his father and grandfather were “in and out” of jail. “The s**t I seen with my dad made me take a turn for the worse. He made me violent.” He adds that drug use was “always kind of going on, ” and confesses, “I don’t want that for me, I don’t want that for my kids.” Xanman also reflects on his own time behind bars:, “I got off 2023… I got off parole-probation. I sit on dead time for like 6–8 months… My grandfather already taught me the dos and don’ts. I had to fight like 2 times. Once was over a noodle packet, which is insane, right?”
In a powerful exchange, rapper Xanman opens up about his struggle with lean addiction. “I don’t want pills no more. It’s more of like the cough syrup, ya know… It’s like liquid heroin. It’s sometimes hard to kick the cup.” When host Richard Taite asks how long it’s been going on, Xanman replies, “Heavy since about 2022.” Taite, an addiction expert and founder of Carrara Treatment, responds, “The reason you can’t get off the lean is because they’re opioids. If you do it every day for longer than 5 to 7 days, it’s got you… You want to stop doing it?” “Yeah, says Xanman. “Do you want to go to treatment today?” Richard closes with, “Well, guess what—you’re going today. And you’re never gonna have to live like this again. We don’t need this…we don’t need it.”
‘Don’t Do Drugs’ — Xanman Message to Young Fans About ‘Accountability’
Rapper Xanman shares a heartfelt warning to his younger fans. “Don’t do drugs. Drugs are not the cool thing… it will take a lot from you, and you don’t even realize.” Getting emotional, he admits, “I’m glad I got this off my chest, because I’ve never been—a lot of people never seen me so vocal inside of an interview…A lot of people know the music but don’t know me anymore… It starts with accountability. The cup. The drugs.” In one of the most powerful moments, Richard Taite tells him:, “You can’t let your son see you doing this.”, Xanman adds:, “I’m glad I got this off my chest… One thing about me—I’m strong. I might make dumb decisions, but I’m not an idiot.”
