This Mandela Day, Extraordinary is going above and beyond the traditional 67 minutes to make a lasting difference in communities across South Africa. Through a range of hands-on, property-led initiatives, the group is reaffirming its ongoing commitment to hospitality with heart, where giving back is just as important as the guest experience.

The Cape Milner: Uplifting Young Lives Through Experience
On 10 July, The Cape Milner in Cape Town hosted 19 teenagers and two social workers from Homestead for an unforgettable day. The teens were treated to a full lunch and a behind-the-scenes tour of the hotel, giving them a rare opportunity to experience the elegance of a four-star environment. For many, it was a moment of inspiration, recognition, and joyful connection.
Mabula, Kwafubesi & Kingfisher: Nourishing Roots at Tswelopele Pre-School
On Mandela Day, staff from Mabula Game Lodge, Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp, and Kingfisher Villa Suites will unite to support 70 children at Tswelopele Pre-School in Bela Bela. Their efforts will include revamping the school’s entrance to make it more welcoming, installing a self-sustaining vegetable garden, improving access to clean drinking water, and sharing knowledge with educators to support long-term growth
Safari Plains: Hands-On Wellness at Hudson Pre-School
Also in Bela Bela, the Safari Plains team will spend the day improving conditions at Hudson Pre-School, which supports 70 young learners. Planned activities include replacing damaged flooring to enhance safety and hygiene, serving a hearty, homemade soup to all attendees, teaching students and teachers how to bake healthy bread, as well as hosting an environmental awareness session to encourage curiosity and responsibility from a young age.
Clifftop Exclusive Safari Hideaway: A Hot Meal with Heart
On 22 July, once the school term resumes, staff from Clifftop Exclusive Safari Hideaway will visit EA Davidson School in Vaalwater to serve hot dogs to learners. The Clifftop crew are sourcing all ingredients locally – a proud nod to their community partnerships and hands-on involvement.
The Imbali Concession in the Kruger National Park (Hamilton’s Tented Camp, Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge and Imbali Safari Lodge): Infrastructure and Warmth at Pfunani Dropping Centre
The Extraordinary Kruger team will be rolling up their sleeves to support Pfunani Dropping Centre, which cares for 120 children. Their efforts will include painting a classroom, repairing fencing assisting with an electricity supply issue, and donating essential items like blankets, plates, and cups.
Angels View: Helping Hands at Emmanuel Family Home
In Graskop, the team at Angels View will be supporting the Emmanuel Family Home with general maintenance and much-needed donations to help improve the children’s living environment. Their involvement is rooted in care, kindness, and long-term community upliftment.
