The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) has approached the Public Protector (PP) to conduct an independent investigation into the process and circumstances that led to the precautionary suspension of Tshwane Metro’s City Manager, Johann Mettler.

The party is concerned that the motion of suspension, proposed by EFF councillor Obakeng Ramabodu and supported by the ANC and ActionSA, is not based solely on administrative grounds.

There is strong suspicion that the decision is politically motivated and linked to Mettler’s stance on certain tender processes currently under investigation by the Madlanga Commission.

The Freedom Front Plus further points out that ANC Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise, who supported the motion, has already been found guilty and fined for irregular interference in municipal tender processes.

It is critical that senior officials are protected from political interference and that the integrity of municipal administration is upheld.

For this reason, the Freedom Front Plus has requested the Public Protector to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The Freedom Front Plus stands for a professional, stable, and impartial municipal administration. We believe that any disciplinary process against a senior official must be fair, transparent, and free from political motivation.

Residents of Tshwane deserve a municipality where good governance and service delivery take priority, not political opportunism.

The time has come for voters to support the Freedom Front Plus – a party that puts the interests of residents first.
