The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) welcomes the arrest of three Tshwane Metro employees allegedly involved in the theft of a transformer at the Claudius substation in Laudium.
The arrests follow an incident in November last year when officials from the Metro’s Electricity Department were caught red-handed and apprehended.
The suspects were apprehended after vigilant members of Laudium’s Community Policing Forums (CPFs) alerted the authorities to suspicious activities at the substation.
The value of the stolen infrastructure is estimated at approximately R7 million.
The Freedom Front Plus is grateful for the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD), the police investigation team, and all other role-players who acted swiftly and effectively.
This is a good example of citizens being actively involved in protecting their community, and it serves as a clear warning to municipal employees that there is a collective and determined effort to combat all forms of illegal activities, whether big or small.
Crime will not be tolerated and perpetrators will be brought to book.
The party implores residents to immediately report any suspicious activities around municipal infrastructure, damage to municipal vehicles, meter tampering, property damage or extortion by municipal staff.
Please use Tshwane’s anti-fraud and corruption hotline, 080 TSHWANE (080 874 9263), to report such incidents.
The Freedom Front Plus hopes for a swift and smooth judicial process, and that the penalty will deter other offenders.
Freedom Front Plus Cultural Heritage: The party promotes the preservation of Afrikaner cultural heritage.
