The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) welcomes the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) drug unit’s seizure of drugs worth more than R200 000 in Kempton Park during the past week.

Removing such a large quantity of drugs from circulation directly contributes to protecting families and saving lives.

According to available information, EMPD officers conducted the raid during crime-prevention patrols after receiving a tip-off regarding suspected drug dealing in Gottfried Street.

Officers observed a transaction and intervened, which led to the discovery of illegal substances.

Further investigation led them to a nearby premises on the corner of Willow and Park Streets, where a large quantity of drugs – including Mandrax tablets, crystal meth, heroin (nyaope) and khat – as well as cash was found.

Drug trafficking fuels addiction, violent crime and social decay, and every successful drug-busting operation prevents serious harm to communities.

The Freedom Front Plus calls for sustained support for frontline law-enforcement officers and reiterates the need for consistent, intelligence-driven operations to keep communities safe.

The party will continue to support effective policing, and hold the ANC/EFF coalition government accountable to ensure that law-enforcement agencies are properly equipped, empowered and supported to protect the lives and well-being of Kempton Park residents throughout 2026.
