Global Sailing Championship Headed for Cape Town

The Dragon Flite Class Association has awarded their 2026 DF95 Global Championships to Cape Town which will be hosted by the Cape Radio Yacht Club.

The DF95 class has about 22 000 boat owners worldwide of this strict one-design radio-controlled yacht. This yacht was launched in April 2016 and is now arguably the fastest-growing yacht, albeit a radio-controlled yacht, in the world. South Africa has recently surpassed 200 DF95 owners.

The Globals will be limited to 80 entries and each race will be sailed in 4 x 20 boat heats. Over the 5-day period a total of 92 heats could be sailed. Each member nation will be running a selection process for the selection of their teams. The local Organising Committee is well into its planning of the Championship from 24 to 30 October 2026 at Theewater Sports Club on Theewaterskloof Dam.

As part of the planning, CRYC in conjunction with TSC, are hosting the 2024 DF95 National Championship 21 to 24 September at the same venue.
