LINDLEY – The Serious and Violent Crimes Unit in the Free State Province are looking for at least five (5) suspects following an ATM Bombing in George Leon Street, Lindley.
Two members of Lindley Visible Policing Unit were busy with their policing activities during Monday, 31 August 2026 morning when they allegedly heard a loud bang three times at about 01:25. Three witnesses stormed the station running and informed the police of an incident that happened in town.
The members drove towards the direction of the sound as reported by witnesses and in George Leon Street, discovered that an Automatic Teller Machine near the filing station was blown up. The police secured the scene of crime and necessary role players were summoned.
According to one of the witnesses, at least, five (5) suspects were seen near the ATM during the explosion and they were driving a blue Audi sedan with registration number plates KT 71 VL GP. A case docket of malicious damage to property – ATM Bombing and transgression of Explosives Act 26 of 1956; Regulation 27(1) was opened at Lindley Police Station.
