Inaugural SunBet Padel Invitational

7 February 2025 by Guest

Chery South Africa is proud to announce its role as the Official Vehicle Partner of the Sunbet Padel Invitational, set to debut in February 2025. Chery will provide VIP transportation as part of the partnership, ensuring celebrity guests and VIPs travel in style and comfort in the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro.

Founded by Kriya Gangiah, the Sunbet Padel Invitational is a first-of-its-kind event in South Africa. It brings together padel enthusiasts, celebrity players, and sports stars for two days of thrilling competition. Among the well-known personalities taking to the court are Siv Ngesi, Mark Fish, Ashwell Prince, Schalk Brits, and more.

“Chery is honoured to be the Official Vehicle Partner of the inaugural Sunbet Padel Invitational,” said Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager for Chery South Africa. “This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting dynamic and fast-growing local initiatives that bring people together—just as we continue to bring South Africans closer to innovation, quality, and driving excellence.”

Padel has seen extraordinary growth in South Africa, with over 400 courts built across the country since 2021.

Padel has become South Africa’s fastest-growing sport, and it’s been thrilling to see the community that has developed around it,” said Gangiah. “The Sunbet Padel Invitational will not only allow fans to play with their favourite celebrities but will bring the excitement of padel to new regions and fans, further strengthening its presence in South Africa.”

Fans looking to participate in the event can choose from various exclusive packages. The Gold Package includes two days of play for a team, branded kits, high tea, and access to the players’ lounge and beer & cider bar. The Platinum Package offers these benefits plus a padel racquet and shoes.

The first tournament will take place in Pretoria at Africa Padel Brooklyn, with future events planned in key holiday destinations across South Africa.

Chery continues to break records globally and locally. In 2024, the automaker sold 2,603,916 vehicles worldwide, with 19,971 units sold in South Africa. The Tiggo range has expanded with the introduction of the all-new Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 4 Pro DCT, and Tiggo 8 Pro Executive+.
